Currently working on some changes with the Calgary Polo Club. 2011 is going to be a great year for polo in Calgary. For those of you who have not heard, we won the bid to host the 2011 North American Hardcourt Bike Polo Championship in August. League will be back in full swing this year, check out the 2011 Polo League tab if you are interested. There has also been talk amongst some of the players about starting a youth polo program.

While planing for the 2011 NAHBPC we came across a few problems and the solution that we have come up with that will resolve the problems and will also provide great benefit is turning Calgary Hardcourt bike polo into a not-for-profit group. We are currently in the process of starting The Calgary Hardcourt Bike Polo Society. Not only will this allow us to host an incredible NA’s tournament but it will also help us secure better polo locations year round and many more things!

A couple months back we had a meeting at the Hillhurst courts, and we talked about having a polo board. We then asked for volunteers to fill positions. The group was asked if they where okay with the people who volunteered and no one disagreed. These are the players that will be listed as the President, Vice President, 4 board members and a treasurer/secretary for the organizing body of the society.

The only main change is there will be a $15 fee per player. That fee will allow us to cover the community rink usage fee and a couple of dollars will be deposited into the club/society bank account. In order to play at the Knobhill/Richmond location you will be required to pay the fee. All the money in the club/society account will only be used to maintain playing loacations and for club/society events. Annual General Meetings will be held so that players can see what and where their $15 has been used.

This topic will be discussed more at the next 2011 NAHBPC meeting in mid January.

Hey everyone!! It’s time to return to our favorite polo court up at Richmond Knob Hill. This Wednesday night at the usual time (5:30pm - dark). Bring some burgers or dogs and we’ll fire up the BBQ, and maybe a beer to go with it!!! (since the court up there is a little more relaxed in that department) I’m going to call it the first League Night, although haven’t really got a shedule set just yet, as I’m still waiting on teams to register. So it’ll probably be basically a pickup night this week, and hopefully we’ll get all the league teams registered as well, so we can get League play rolling.  See you all up the hill on Wednesday!!

hey everyone, time to get league rolling. going to give everyone two weeks to get your team registered (by May 26), and then have the schedule made up, and the first night of league play on Wed June 2nd at Richmond Knob Hill. Contact me by phone or email to register your team, it will be $10 per person. You can have 3 - 6 players on your team ( only 3 on the court at a time obviously, but you can have subs if you can’t all make it every week. ) If you are short players on league night you can either play short handed, or have ¹sub, but it must be someone who isn’t on another team, otherwise your team will forfeit the game. Get your teams together, and let everyone know!! 3-2-1-polo!
